D-Day tour assembly

  Apr 6Apr 7Apr 8Apr 9Apr 10Apr 11Apr 12

10 April 2014.

A misty morning as we set off for our first stop to the German Cemetery. The mist certainly added to the atmosphere walking around the cemetery!!

We stretched our 1100/1300 legs out to Sainte-Mere-Eglise the landing site of the US 82 Airborne Division on D-Day. The church spire has a paratrooper and his parachute still attached to the spire. A walk around the impressive Airborne Museum before a spot of lunch and then onto Utah beach.

Utah beach was breath taking and even more so when the Battlefield Limeflowers conducted their own beach Landing! They were soon joined by a Red Spitfire, White Austin and a Blue Austin Flying the British (and French) colours.

Running report

Dean Oakey still has some binding brakes now followed by a squeaking Rear Wheel Bearing! A search for some grease in the morning for the latter!
