Day 7 - 27 Aug 16.
Day 7 - Team 1100 Ireland tourers partied well into our last night with an array of fantastic 1960s costumes and dancing into the early hours to a live band. The themed evening was a great success reflected by lots of empty beer barrels sat adjacent to the party revellers cars the following morning!
Sadly today is our departure day from the stunning Republic of Ireland. We were provided a VIP tour of John and Kathleen Friel's stunning collection of 1100/1300s. John and Kathleen were superb hosts and our Northern Ireland members drove down in the morning to come and meet up and share appreciating John and Kathleen's collection including a very rare Austin America and about 25+ other ADO16s!
We spent 3 hours with the Friels' collection and everywhere you turned you found another ADO16 car, part or item under restoration. We counted at least 5 ADO16s under various stages of restoration additional to those on the double stacked stand. Our great appreciation to John and Kathleen for hosting and looking after us. We felt extremely privileged to see the collection.
A group ADO16 photo was arranged with drivers which made a spectacular sight. Photos taken, John provided an escorted guide to the Ferry Port showing us the tunnel expressway to the Ferry. Thank you John and Kathleen for what was the highlight of our tour and the best ADO16 fix we have ever experienced.
Our tour of Ireland has been a wonderful experience and we have received superb Irish hospitality. Driving our cars through the Irish scenery has been breathtaking. Our cars have been superbly reliable and is testimony to their superb design and careful and diligent ownership. Our worst casualty was a lost number plate bolt over the Wicklow Mountains!
Team 1100 Touring rocks! We just can't wait until the next tour!
